Unless my memory is failing me, the old Apple iMacs were pre-OS X computers, running Mac OS 8.1 or 9.0. If that’s the case, it’s unlikely you could get it running on today’s modern Macs.
If you have a pre-Intel Mac that has the 8.x or 9.x compatibility mode, you could just get it off the original install disks.
However, the next best thing may be the “original” chess game upon which Apple’s was based, Sigma Chess.
If you have a pc (no longer have a Mac) I doubt that same game you had on your iMac would work on a pc.
A Mac is not referred to as a “pc” mainly because a “pc” is basically any computer that isn’t a Mac/Apple computer. So if you mean you purchased another Apple computer, you’d have to search for “chess game for Mac” to see if the one you had before is available. I’ve always had Macs, but never noticed if games came with it, to be honest. I’ve always preferred online games.
Did you try the Apple site? I would think that’s where you looked first. I’m not on a Mac at work, so it’s difficult for me to efficiently search for downloads specifically for Mac. So go to the Apple site and type “Chess” into the search field. I would try there before using the Google search. Personally, I don’t download ANYTHING onto my Mac unless it’s approved by Apple, even if the site says it’s made for Mac.http://www.apple.com/
Here’s the Google search result. I’d love to find the game you’re referring to, but I don’t know what that is.http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=cheā¦
